Bulldogs roll over Bandits

Bulldogs put on a display of good High School football with their home opener win over Beaumont.  Pitching a shut out by not allowing the Bandits to score any points, the defense was dominant by only allowing 6 first downs and 102 yards of total offence by Beaumont.  On the Bulldogs side, the offense had 476 yards of total offense and were led by rookie QB Eli Korownyk.  In his first ever Senior High School game, Korownyk finished 19 for 28 and 262 yards passing to go with 5 passing TD's.

Defensively the Bulldogs were led by Caleb Holmes 2 interceptions and Dawson Deluca blocking a punt and returning it into the endzone for the TD.

Darius Crandell continued his receiving prowess with 7 receptions, 131 yards and 2 more TD's.  Not to be outdone, Hudson Simington-Lesanko contributed 2 receiving TD's as well.

Next up the Bulldogs host the Strathcona Lords at Larry Olexiuk Field next Friday with kick-off at 5:00 pm.

Gutsy comeback

What a win!  Starting with a Kick-off touchdown being called back, then a fumble, a player ejection, a constant stream of penalty flags, the Bulldogs found themselves behind the 8-ball early and often.  Down by 14 at halftime the Bulldogs dominated the 2nd half and came out with a victory on an 18 yard game winning field goal by Santi Norena in the 4th quarter.

The 'Dawg-Bone' player of the game award was handed to Braxton Turner by head coach Jason Lafferty following the game.  Turner gutted out 15 carries and 74 yards rushing along with 8 important tackles on defense.  Jamie Clark led all defenders with 10 tackles.  Darius Crandell had 7 receptions for 102 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bulldogs will play their first home game on Friday at Larry Olexiuk Field hosting the Beaumont Bandits.  The Bandits lost their game this week to STFX and will come to St. Albert with a record of 1-1 while the Bulldogs are 2-0.

44-7 Win is in the Books

What a way to open your season!  A 44-7 win over the Archbishop O'Leary Spartans on the opening night at Clarke Stadium.  Led by 4 touchdown passes by Tyler Sims at QB.  Darius Crandell led receivers with 12 receptions for 143 yards and 3 Touchdowns.  On defense Jamie Clark recovered 2 of the 5 fumbles by the Spartans and Caleb Holmes had an interception.

The only blemish defensively was an outstanding long run of 80 yards by a speedy Spartans running back for a touchdown in the 2nd Qtr.  Other than that play, the defense only allowed 5 First Downs Vs. the Bulldogs 17.

You can go to the Senior Bulldogs Tab for pictures and game stats.

Next up for the Senior Bulldogs is a trip to Sherwood Park Emerald Hills to play the Archbishop Jordan Scots on Friday, September 8th with kick-off at 5:00 pm.  The Scots were also victorious in their season opener with a 25-8 win over the Leduc Tigers.
