The junior Bellerose Bulldogs ran their winning streak to 18 games in metro Edmonton high school football after whipping the winless O’Leary Spartans 50-0 Wednesday at Clarke Park.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the pool B schedule as the two-time defending metro division one champions led 43-0 at halftime.

O’Leary recorded its first first down of the game in the second half when the Bulldogs emptied their bench.

The first of two touchdowns by Zach Nuttall opened the scoring as the Bulldogs drove the ball from their 35 on six plays that took three minutes off the clock. Fullback Matt Olesen made a clutch catch on third and two from midfield to keep the drive going.

Jaedon Carroll also scored two TDs, including 60-yard effort on a designed quarterback run.

Before the first quarter ended, Carroll hit Olesen on a play-action pass on second and goal from the three for the team’s third TD.

In the second quarter, and the Bulldogs leading by 19, Nuttall and Colton Meronyk added rushing majors and Terrell Peters aired the ball out to Matt Jeffers for a TD reception covering more than 40 yards. Peters also found Meronyk in the back of the endzone for the two-point conversion.

As the first half drew to a close, the Bulldogs started working in a bunch of backups.

During running time in the second half Carroll scored off a broken play on a snafu on the exchange with the running back from around the five.

Nuttall finished the game with more than 100 yards on the ground after shredding the St. Joseph Saints (2-1) for 214 yards in the season-opening 43-14 blowout.

Meronyk’s TD was his fourth and Carroll took a turn at wideout and hauled in a 50-yard pass from Peters.

The Bulldogs were led defensively by lineman Nick Allen and Meronyk at linebacker.

Tuesday the Bulldogs line up against the Paul Kane Blues (2-1) at 6 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park.
