Taking down previously undefeated Sabres

On a warm evening that turned windy and cool the Junior Bulldogs fought tooth and nail against the previously undefeated Salisbury Sabres.  Dawgged determination shown by the Bulldogs as they overcame an early 14 point deficit to earn a 26-22 win.  Against a very big team, both in stature and roster size, the Bulldogs fought hard for the victory.

With both teams statistically in a deadlock, the Bulldogs led by 4 offensive TD's, 2 by Eli Korownyk rushing and 2 passing to Jack McLeod and Gavin Chinni were the difference.   The defense held the Sabres to only 8 first downs in the game while compiling 13 first downs themselves.

Next up for the Junior Bulldogs is the final regular season game Vs. the undefeated Harry Ainlay Titans at Emerald Hills in Sherwood Park Next Wednesday, Ocotber 25th with a 5:00 pm kick-off and 1st place on the line.

The win over Salisbury solidifies the Bulldogs a spot in the Premier Division playoffs which begins on November 1st.

60 point display with Offense, Defense and Special Teams all contibuting.

Bulldogs dominating defense leads them to a huge victory! 3 Defensive Interception returns for TD's lead by Matthew Moore's 2 in the first quarter and Devin Pariseau's TD/Int in the 4th quarter.  Aided by a fumble recovery for another defensive TD by Matthew McLeod in the 3rd quarter, the defense found itself dominating the game by scoring 26 of the 60 points on the night.

Offense was once again led by Eli Korownyk's 108 yards rushing with 1 TD and 145 yards passing and another TD.  Joshua Hennig also contributed 2 TD's on 46 yards rushing along with Gavin Chinni adding a receiving TD.

Defensively Moore's 2 INT's along with Pariseau's INT were aided by Owen Berlin's and Harrison Eliuk's 9 tackles each.

Next up, Salisbury Sabres come to Larry Olexiuk field on Wednesday, October 18th.  6:00 PM kick-off.

JUNIOR BULLDOGS SUFFER THEIR FIRST LOSS

Late comeback not enough

A very slow start aided by penalties put the Bulldogs down by 29 points before the offense found their footing.  Unfortunately the Dawgs suffered a 29-22 defeat to St. Francis Xavier Rams.  With the old 'Murphy's Law' of when something could go wrong, it usually does, the Bulldogs dug themselves a hole too large to get out of.  A heroic burst of offense late in the game brought the fans to their feet with 3 touchdown passes by Eli Korownyk and two 2 point conversion's.  The outcome only sealed for the Rams with a short kick-off that was inches from being recovered by the Bulldogs.  Jack McLeod's 2 TD's and Gavin Chinni's lone TD in the last half of the game brought the Bulldogs to within 1 TD and almost overcoming a 29 point deficit.

Next up for the Junior team is a home field match with Archbishop O'Brien Crusaders on Oct 11 at Larry Olexiuk Field.
