The first victory of the season for the Bellerose Bulldogs after three losses was celebrated Thursday in Sherwood Park.

The Bulldogs defeated the winless Bev Facey Falcons 14-8 in the division one Carr conference match at Emerald Hills.

The result kept the Bulldogs in the playoff hunt for the sixth and final berth with games remaining against the Strathcona Lords (2-2) at 5 p.m. Friday at Foote Field and the Jasper Place Rebels (0-4) Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Night at Larry Olexiuk Field.

The metro Edmonton league playoffs start Oct. 26.

After three games before beating Facey (0-5), Brett Yost led the Bulldogs in rushing with 74 yards on 25 carries, Jordan Howe was the top receiver with 127 yards on eight catches and Jared Koziol was 35-for-75 passing for 310 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Defensively, Bronson Wilke recorded a team-high 18 tackles, followed by Pablo Rizzi-Benavides with 14, Cory Hannam had 13 and Cole Precht chipped in with 12 as well as one interception.
