Thursday’s division one Carr conference match between the Bellerose Bulldogs and Salisbury Sabres in metro Edmonton football kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Emerald Hills Turf Field.

Salisbury and the Harry Ainlay Titans are tied for top spot at 4-0 and Bellerose is fourth at 2-2 after Friday’s 30-28 loss to the 3-1 Austin O’Brien Crusaders.

In week five of the Football Alberta Tier I (1,250-plus students) rankings, Salisbury is No. 2, Ainlay is No. 5 and the 2-2 Spruce Grove Panthers replaced Bellerose at No. 10.

Bellerose was the winner of two in a row before AOB kicked the game-winning 36-yard field goal to close out the scoring at Foote Field.

AOB, the No. 7-ranked Tier II (750 to 1,249 students) team in the province, started off the contest with three touchdowns before Bellerose answered in the second quarter with Tristan Olenick’s TD passes of seven yards to Adam Rafat and five yards to Jordan Howe to tighten the deficit at 20-14.

It was 27-14 in the third quarter when Olenick teamed up with Dorian Therqaj for a 10-yard TD and in the fourth quarter they hooked up for an 11-yard scoring play and Mohammad Zeidan’s fourth conversion gave Bellerose its first lead at 28-27.
